Behold! After clearing about 7 year's worth of weeds, the vegies are installed! Thanks so much Pauline for the opportunity to respond to a vegie-growing urge! (plus some inspiration from the vegie-growing exploits of the Sale branch) Now all we have to do is keep the @$#*% possums away, keep the (ditto) weeds down, and look forward to the harvest!
Well done you!! You were much more prompt getting the vegies in than I was replying! Our internet connection went AWOL from last Friday morning till just this Thursday evening...the service was changed from ADSL to ADSL2 (!) and something went awry with the connection to our phone line, just our luck. Anyway, we're back online and GREAT to see and hear about everyone's vegies. I've found the beans seem to look pretty shabby for a long time and some don't make it at all, but the rest have been really vigorous. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteVegies still going well,Pauline! Mims is right about the beans, not much happening but all looking strong so here's hoping. Silverbeet, however, is going gangbusters, which is great 'cos that's a veg we can use a lot. Tomatoes look happy, some flowers, and some rows of rocket and spinach planted from seed have burst through and growing apace.I've even weeded!FUN!Thanks again for the great start!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear. Our silverbeet also gangbustering (?!) AND we have a couple of actual TOMATOES already, yep, about the size of a small egg. Mind you, the plant went in pretty early, not the family "do" batch. It is a good start planting seedlings; sometimes seeds can be less than rewarding and the slugs make a very easy meal out of the tiny sprouts. Planting seedlings gives them a bit of height and a head start on the slugs etc. Fun indeed!
